CDA Seeks Community Advisory Committee Members to Guide Neighborhood Investments

The Community Development Administration (CDA) of St. Louis is calling on passionate and knowledgeable residents to join its newly formed Community Advisory Committee (CAC). This committee will play a crucial role in shaping neighborhood investments, guiding funding priorities, and ensuring community-driven decision-making.

Why Join the CDA CAC?

The CDA is seeking nine committed individuals from diverse backgrounds to help steer St. Louis' community development efforts. This initiative is aimed at fostering inclusive representation, ensuring that different voices from across the city contribute to decision-making processes.

Members will provide insight and feedback on CDA’s planning and funding processes, particularly in areas such as affordable housing, social services, and neighborhood transformation. The committee will meet bi-monthly from February 2025 to December 2025, with opportunities for additional involvement during key funding cycles.

Who Can Apply?

CDA is looking for individuals who:

  • Reside in St. Louis or have strong ties to the city.

  • Have lived in the St. Louis region for at least five years (up to two members may live outside the city limits but must meet this requirement).

  • Understand and care about the needs of St. Louis neighborhoods, even if they are not policy experts.

  • Have a background in community engagement, business, housing, or nonprofit work (not a requirement, but preferred).

  • Are not employed by CDA-funded programs or organizations (though those entities are encouraged to participate in public feedback sessions).

What Does the CDA CAC Do?

Committee members will:

  • Attend bi-monthly Tuesday evening meetings (in-person with virtual options available).

  • Review and provide recommendations for Neighborhood Transformation Grant Housing Production and Social Services CDBG Funding Cycles.

  • Participate in special CDA events such as tours, open houses, and engagement activities.

  • Ensure that funding priorities align with community needs and the Consolidated Plan.

What is the Community Development Administration (CDA)?

Established in 1974, the CDA oversees federal, state, and local funds to drive economic justice and neighborhood transformation in St. Louis. The agency is committed to ensuring that funding decisions are community-driven and data-informed.

The CDA manages funding programs such as:

  • Community Development Block Grants (CDBG)

  • HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME)

  • Housing Opportunities for Persons With AIDS (HOPWA)

  • Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG)
